The time I almost had a fight with a ghost in a tent in the woods in Michigan.

June 27, 2012

To fall in love with the tip of the pinky finger on the Michigan hand
is to look out across the lake at sunset and view complete perfection as it glows red and sinks into a seemingly unbreakable horizon. How lucky we are to be able to perceive this.
She is my favourite of all the Americans.
There was New York and then there was Michigan. Michigan is stunning. I could sit for hours and just watch. The sound of running water is as mellifluous as any other to me.
I wore a cowboy hat. Well you just have to. Don’t judge me. Howdy!
The lady in the bar in New York told me she had just moved to Manhattan and had already been arrested for trespassing. We drank beer and talked about the Constitution. She was obsessed with the Constitution. I wanted to watch the football game on TV. I missed the goal, because I was being told about her rights. It is at that point that I decided my favourite Founding Father; Thomas Jefferson was no longer my favourite. He had pushed for the First Amendment – the right to free speech – and I would have given anything to be able to put gaffer tape over her face at that very moment. Go to hell Jefferson. You ruined the match for me.
New York is oddly captivating.
It is one long, unending car horn. It is the reason behind the one long, unending car horn. The fragrance of Central Park breaks the mold. I loved Central Park.
What a wonderful view it is from the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building. And how much I felt like I had been transported back to the height of Art Deco when walking through that triumph of 1930s architecture with the elevator doors as criss-crossed steal that a bellman pulls across. This building has existed, and been seen by Roosevelt, by Kennedy, by Truman and Nixon and Carter. Standing at the top of history.
Manhattan is a forest of concrete.
What a dull sentence. But the reality is that it makes you marvel of what humankind is capable of producing. We have came such a long way in such a short space of time. We are impressive. In less than 200,000 years we have gone from communicating via gestures, to developing languages, concepts borne out of ideas, systems based on survival instincts. Humanity is intensely brilliant. We do not need Gods. But we are dangerous and destructive also. Our excellence breeds our ignorance. I stood at Ground Zero. The fountains. They epitomise humanity. Their design came from the beautiful mind of an artist. A mind. A piece of matter that has become self aware. A piece of matter, like a stone. How did it become self aware? Self aware, and capable of dreaming. Dreaming is art. This is what sets us apart. How can this development in human evolution not over awe you? And then the juxtaposition. The fountains reason for being is the horrifyingly destructive nature of humanity and what it is capable of doing to its own species. It is a harrowing place. I used to
Can somebody please tell Mitt Romney to stop telling everyone how much he doesn’t want to become like Europe. The reason the US isn’t like Europe, is because it has rejected the idea of austerity. Stick with Obama, he’s doing it right.
I was stopped at Heathrow by a security official with a drastically over inflated sense of his own importance. This is a man who had contempt on his face for anyone who isn’t him. A man who only smiles, cries with awe, and manages to achieve a sexually aroused state whilst looking in the mirror. At no other time is it possible for him. He stopped me and said “What’s in your bag?” So I told him. He knew anyway, having been watching the xray machine. He said “Anything else you want to tell me about?” Patronising question. I had two books, my glasses, my sunglasses, and my wallet in that bag. Nothing else. So I said “no”. He then said “What do you do for a living?” I told him that was none of his business, and then asked him what he had for dinner last night. He told me not to get cocky with him. He then got a lady to go through my bag in private, wearing rubber gloves. She treated me like a criminal. She then got to the end of the bag, and said “Okay, there’s nothing concerning in here, I apologise for the inconvenience”. I didn’t want her to apologise. I wanted the man who stopped me in the first place, who for some reasons needs to know my main source of income, to come and profoundly apologise. He didn’t. He walked away. I was held back for 35 minutes for that.
The Statue of Liberty is the face of freedom. Though it also makes me reflect on America over time. Emma Lazarus wrote the ‘New Colossus’ poem that sits at the entrance to the Statue. It reads:

“Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

This beautiful sentiment epitomises how it must have felt for those immigrants coming on the boats into New York harbour, to have seen the Statue with the promise of a liberty that had been kept from them for so long. Whether it still applies now (considering the Arizona border dispute, it’s hard to say) is debatable. But the original sentiment is one that makes me smile.
We do not go into BOBs in Grand Rapids. Only douches go into BOBs.
I went into BOBs.
Ssshhh.
I hate flight.
Whenever the plane experiences turbulence, I presume we’re going to crash.
I don’t understand how such a big tin can is able to stay afloat. It seems unnatural. And yet it is wonderful.
Over the skies of the United States on my way to Michigan, I looked out of the window. It struck me; I am only one of a very few number of people in the World over its history to have seen the planet from this perspective. Great people have come before me and never experienced this. How lucky it is to be me. Our ancestors looked into the heavens and wondered. I was now in the place that drove such profoundly wonderful men and women to meditate on what the sky had to offer. Da Vinci was desperate to invent a machine that could take humanity into the sky. Newton was fascinated by it. The Aztecs would pray every night to the Gods in the hope that it would ensure that the sun would rise the next day. Galileo was imprisoned for his fascination with that which existed above the surface of the Earth. Religions were invented to try to make sense of the unknown. Plato was a part of a society that believed the Gods dwelled in the clouds. And here I am. Sat above them, in a machine that man built; essentially the culmination of great thinking up until this moment. All of those names; Newton, Galileo, Plato, Da Vinci had some influence on the reason that I was sat in the air that day. I love humanity. But humanity is a product of natural selection. This is the reason that I have a love affair with nature. Its possibilities are endless and we should be constantly amazed by this.
We went to a vin yard to try to some local wines.
We then went to another vin yard to try some local wines.
We then went to another vin yard to try some local wines.
Sometimes people take your breath away.
Their quality is ineffable.
But they just glow, and you can’t explain why.
New York is full of these people.
I could live in Michigan. Happily.
We see a plane, and our eyes are used to it. We know how it works, we are not surprised, it is a fact of our lives. Sometimes I wonder if wonderment is the essence of life. Do we lose a certain degree of beauty, when we understand? I choose not to understand how a plane works. I don’t want to understand. This makes it far more bewildering and ultimately astonishing for me. Yet, conversely, not understanding is part of the reason that I hate flying.
Free front row ticket to Jersey Boys on Broadway. I had no idea Frankie Valli had sang so many great songs. ‘My Eyes Adored You’…. I forgot about that one. ‘Begging’… Had no idea he’d sung that. Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man. The entire show was fantastic. Oh what a night.
The woods are wonderful. She said that these places go on without humanity, that regardless of our worries and our problems, this beauty still exists. She’s right. That is what makes them beautiful. We stood on the rocks after sunset and talked about people and about nature. Everything that had happened before us, and before our mums and dads, and before our grandparents, and before nations, religions, empires, before language and before art and before….everything, had led up to the point where we could be stood on rocks after sunset talking about people and about nature.
Apparently Americans are quite the fan of Brits reading Harry Potter whilst holding a box of Hobnobs. There is no need to explain the context here. It is EXACTLY as you just read it. So I made them say the pledge of allegiance. Fair trade I feel. If you are English, take the opportunity to have your American friends speak in a British accent. It is much fun!
kbye….
We sat in rubber tubes, with cold beers and floated down the river into Lake Michigan in the sun. I couldn’t help but note that ten years ago I was in a shitty school, expecting to spend my life on a rough council estate with multiple children and a dead end job by the time I was 20, holidaying in Skegness. I am proud of me. A lot has happened in ten years and even the bad, I am in a strange way grateful. I am grateful for Mrs English the day she told me that I would never be smart enough to read a book cover to cover, or ever be eloquent enough to write anything of any significance. I hope the phrase “Fuck you, you incompetent bitch” is eloquent enough for her. I am grateful for everything. But not so much for Reese’s. I hope they go away.
Take chances, and be happy. Lose sometimes. Smile. Do it all again. Life.
There were footsteps outside the tent. Then they stopped. Right outside the door. I sat up, ready for a struggle.
There were no more footsteps retreating or pressing forward.
they just stopped outside of the tent.
But, no one there.
I was preparing for a fight still.
Apparently with a ghost.
This was the thoughts and the events and the people that led up to the time I almost had a fight with a ghost in a tent in the woods in Michigan.

The Sinking Republican Ship

April 30, 2009

You have to feel slightly sorry for Republicans recently. They’re like a collective version of Elliot Roosevelt. Useless. Unable to admit just how useless they have been, and still are. A terrible role model for their youthful counterparts. Unable to accept responsibility for anything. And seemingly attempting to commit suicide. Looking on at their much more loveable brother with jealousy and rage. Whilst that much more loveable brother, the Democrats act as the pragmatic force behind the reinvention of America. Or, Theodore Roosevelt, if you will.

Surely someone in the Republican Party must be thinking to themselves “Please Cheney, just let it go. The damage is done!“. If they aren’t crossing their fingers that Bush doesn’t turn up with an equally insignificant opinion aired across the media, then they should be.

Whilst the GOP attempts to deal with the fact that Republican of 29 years Senator Arlen Specter has lost complete faith in a Party slipping further to the Right every day, choosing instead to move to the Democrat benches, Democrats look set to start work on complete (Oh MY GOD SOCIALISM ARGH!) healthcare reform after their $3.4tn Budget passed through the House beautifully by 233 to 193, marking Obama’s 100th day in spectacular fashion.
Specter’s move means the Democrat Senate Majority is taken to 59. When Minnesota’s Supreme Court finally votes in favour of Democratic Senator Al Franken, that takes the Democrats in the Senate up to a lovely round 60. And if that lovely round 60 is reached (which it will be), that means the Democratic controlled Senate becomes filibuster-free. Which is fantastic.

Specter leaving the GOP is two fold in the damage it’s likely to cause. Firstly, it makes the GOP look weak, disunited, out of touch and relatively pointless. Secondly, it seems to have sparked off a fight between Republicans themselves. Utah Senator Orrin Hatch blamed Chris Chocola (who ran a campaign based on the slogan “Fuck the environment” – or words to that affect, when he voted to allow oil companies to drill in the protected Arctic National Wildlife Reserve)and the rest of the rather comically named “Club for Growth” for imposing strict right wing rules over the party. Chocola himself, a big fan of President Bush, which suggests that “Club for Growth” must be an ironic term. The equivilant to calling a tall man “shorty”. “The Club For Growth” themselves blamed Specter for ruining the GOP and then leaving. South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham blamed Michael Steele and the RNC for pushing moderates out the way. And Michael Steele himself, decided to take on the role of a new WWE superstar named “The Black Republican” (again, another ironic name) and said …
If Sen. Specter survives in the fall — get ready to go to the mat, baby, because we’re coming after you and taking you out
I’m not joking, he actually did say that, to CNN. Look.
So obviously, this was also a chance for that perfectly round headed orange ignorant idiot Rush Limbaugh to have his say. Limbaugh on his radio show, is quoted as saying:
“Well, Specter, take McCain with you. And his daughter. Take McCain and his daughter with you if you’re gonna…”
Good idea! Take all the moderates to the Democrats. Meghan McCain is far too intelligent to be a Republican anyway. Take the few popular Republicans, and hand them to the Democrats. For once I agree with the fat prick. If that were to happen, the Republicans wouldn’t see Government for a very long time. You’d essentially have a popularly elected Democrat Dictatorship for decades. It’s perfect. Perhaps Rush could go live in the soon to be New Republic of Texabillies. Republicans in this new Republican are free to be as “Conservative” as they please. They can be as racist, homophobic, small government, guns to every man, woman, child and pet as they could possibly imagine.
It amuses me greatly, that the GOP has now taken to discrediting Specter by releasing a video, that shows how Specter was close to George Bush. It’s almost poetic that the only way the Republicans can discredit an ex-Republican, is by aligning him with a failed Republican President. You really couldn’t make this shit up.

Not only that but Republicans are finding themselves in a tough position when it comes to Democrat plans for new regulations placed on Wall Street. On the one hand, they could follow their out of date principles, keep yelling Socialism, and decide to ignore the problems that 25 years of Reaganomics has created deciding instead to obstruct any form of recovery. Or, they could put aside their wasted ideology, tell Glenn Beck that if he’s trying to be the Right Wing’s version of John Stewart… it’s never going to happen, and accept the need for regulatory rules as soon as humanly possible. That would of course risk hurting the feelings of apparent Republican Leader Rush Limbaugh, and be forced to apologise from the heart at a later date. So it’s a tough situation for Republicans.

We all knew torture is wrong, but we needed something to confirm our belief. Enter Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. It’s like meeting someone who thinks they might be gay, and then pushing them over the edge. Did Cheney and Rove really think anyone would take their side in this? The moment he showed his murderous little face, we all squirmed. Obviously there are those like Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh “Conservatives” who think the way to defeat terrorism, is by being a terrorist, but in the real World there is no way a human being with any moral compass would ever consider using the phrase “You know, I think Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are right.”

The only way to cope, is to have an insignificant “Tea Party” (nothing strikes fear into the enemy more than words “Tea Party“) to complain how Obama is both, paradoxically, a Socialist (3% tax increase on the rich, bringing it still beneath that of the first six years of Reagan……… Barack Stalin, obviously!) and a Fascist by announcing the biggest middle class tax cut in history. Or, just continue to fight amongst themselves until they push everyone other than the actual Right Wing Extremists (Rush, Hannity, O’Reilly, Beck) out of the GOP for good. Either way, it’s so incredibly entertaining, i’m just as happy as ever. Whilst the majority of Americans significantly approve of President Obama’s running of domestic policy, foreign policy, economic policy and now with the outbreak of Swine flu, 66% approve of how the Administration is dealing with the outbreak – you have to come to the conclusion that in a Nation finally embracing Liberal principles, the GOP moving further to the Right and edging out moderates is going to be the ultimate death of the Party. (I literally had a smile on my face as I typed that, weird).

The GOP Ship is sinking more and more every day. It’s crew are now fighting each other and appear to have decided that only the most extreme Republicans, the most racist, anti-environment, homophobic, fox news worshipping crew members are good enough. Fine by me. It means those ignorant shits go down with the ship.

At the start of this entry, I mentioned feeling sorry for Republicans. I take it back. Bask in the entertainment of a dying breed of ignorance, is what I meant to say.

We’re all American now

January 14, 2009

Am I going mad?
Or am I one of the few sane people left in the Western World?

I sat watching George Bush deliver another speech of bullshit and propaganda in which he metaphorically masturbated Tony Blair. Blair was awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom for his success in fighting terrorism. I’d assume this refers to the biggest disaster in war history, perhaps worse than Vietnam: Iraq. Currently this doesn’t surprise me. We seem to have become a World dedicated to rewarding failure. When asked why Goldman Sachs’ top guys will still be getting a bonus this year, The Independent was told “you have to pay big money to get the best guys“… such are ‘the best guys’ whose company is guilty of corruption, incompetence and partly responsible for the destruction of the entire free market. And those are the best guys? I’d hate to see the worst guys. Do they just sit in a room throwing faeces at a wall?

At one point, when referring to Blair, Bush used the phrase “Helped to free millions of people in Iraq”. If we must use that dreadful lie, we must also use “Has helped murder 600,000 innocent Iraqi people including many children, along with thousands on our own troops, whose family still don’t know what cause their sons, husbands, brothers, uncles died for.”

It was one of those horribly cringeworthy speeches, that only George Bush appears to deem appropriate. I’m neither casting a negative nor positive judgement on Blair as a Prime Minister. In fact, I quite liked him when it comes to domestic issues, but based on his foreign policy and his ‘special’ friendship with the World’s most villainous Terrorist Bush, his legacy will always be judged in a horribly even if somewhat unfairly negative light.

Bush thanked Blair for his public support for ‘freedom’ and ‘liberty’. Whenever those phrases are used so frequently, I wonder to myself what they mean, what they stand for exactly. Is it that in one breath we support Democracy, and then denounce it the moment a political party that does not like us, wins an election? Is it condemning homosexuality? Is it making flag buring a crime? Is it support for the regimes of dictators like Pinochet, because he’s agreeing to let your companies exploit his people? Is it seeking nuclear proliferation across the globe, yet hypocritically having the largest stock pile of nuclear arms on the planet? Is freedom experienced by the innocent men being held at Guantanamo without representation? Is freedom the love of warantless wiretapping? Experts (according to ‘The Economist’) have said that under the Bush administration, classified documentation has rised from 8.1 million in 2001 to 14.2 million in 2005 and that it is now much more difficult to obtain documents under the freedom of information act than ever before. Is this the Freedom the Bush administration so happily boasts about? Ex-felons (according to the Economist again, one in thirty seven adults in America has spent time behind bars) in some States, are banned from voting.

Bush went on to applaud Blair’s attitude to spreading Democracy across the globe. That Democracy goes hand in hand with freedom. He must be speaking of the failure to export Democracy to countries that just don’t want it, but killing enough people whilst trying? Or perhaps it’s the continued support for Governments like the Eqyption Government, whose President ‘Mumbarak’ has been in power for 28 years? Is it condemning Hamas and cutting off Aid because Hamas’ goal is to destroy Israel, yet standing side by side with Israel when their goal since birth has been to clear it’s region of all Islamic influence? Is it condemning Iran for testing missiles, yet ignoring Israel when they (according to U.S Intelligence – as much as an oxymoron as that is- Officials) “conducted an exercise that simulated a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities”? Or was it the support for the murderous regime of Batista in Cuba, yet (and unsurprisingly) hypocritically condemning every breath Castro takes. Right winged murderous dictators GOOD? Left wing, whether murderous or not, BAD? Freedom is only freedom when it suits American economic interests. Democracy is only democracy when the out come means that McDonalds can poison as many local water supplies as it can get it’s hands on.

Blair should not have been given this medal. He was awarded it in 2003 but has only agreed to collect it this year. Can you imagine the out cry it would cause among the families of dead soldiers who to this day do not understand why their children have died in a war zone, who have been given no reason or explanation, that the man who sent them to their deaths, is being rewarded for doing so? It’s a horrible consequence of a horrible period of history controlled by those who profit from War.

In a loose way, and perhaps this is where Bush feels so strongly about rewarding Blair for his help in achieving, we’re all American now.

The hypocrisy of the Christian Right

November 22, 2008

****

Hitler was a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
Sadam was a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
Polpot was a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
Osama Bin Laden is a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
General Pinochet was a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
George W Bush is a genocidal maniac, and hetrosexual.
Myra Hindley killed kids, and was hetrosexual.
Ted Bundy killed college girls, and was hetrosexual.
Ian Huntley killed two little girls, and was hetrosexual.
And yet the Christian Right has the fucking nerve to suggest it’s homosexuality that is a cancer on the Planet.

It strikes me as utterly inexcusable that a Nation bound to the values of freedom and fairness, condemn anyone who happens to have a different sexual preference to one that happened to be written down, 2000 or so years ago, when you know, it was alright for grown men to sleep with fourteen year old girls. And they hold that time up, as a guidance for all morality.
It’s bigotted, it’s unfounded, it’s another case of using that horrible form of social manipulation… “God” ….. to justify ones own disgraceful prejudices.

It would seem that happiness is not an individual freedom. It seems that the Christian Right Wing, decide what should be considered happiness. Gay people are not wanting to get married, in order to spit in the face of hetrosexual couples. They just want the absolute freedom to be happy, just like a hetrosexual couple, and no one has any right to deny them that freedom, if you voted in favour of Prop. 8, you should be incredibly ashamed of yourself, you’re beliefs on this matter, are wrong.

I read this today, in regard to Proposition 8, a Law banning same sex marriage in California……
“Gender, race and impairment all relate to what a person is, whereas homosexuality relates to what a person does.”

What an idiot.
Hey, what you doing today?
“Oh you know, this and that, some golf maybe, a bit of homosexuality, maybe go swimming”.
Clearly, from an misinformed, bigotted Christian, insisting that HIS God, is one of peace, love, and unity, and yet paradoxically, condemning everyone to hell who isn’t an avid fan of his favourite work of Fiction, the Bible. Aside from the fact that the fundamental principle of Christianity is that God is perfect, and does not make mistakes, and therefore by definition, would accept homosexuality for what it is, just another form of love, because he created it, there are absolutely no other reasons to feel that gay marriage would undermine male/female marriage.

He went on…
“Some people have a strong bent towards stealing or abuse of alcohol, but they still choose to engage or not engage in this behavior the law rightly holds them accountable.”

The difference, that he chooses to ignore, is that homosexuality, between two consenting adults, is not harming anyone, it’s nobody elses business, it isn’t causing any harm. It’s a sexual preference. Nothing else. It isn’t wrong, it isn’t unnatural. It has nothing to do with the Christian right. It’s personal choice. For what possible reason is it wrong? Use your own mind on this one, not one of a vile, hate-filled God.

One guy suggested that he wants to ban gay marriage, because he doesn’t want his kids indoctrinated with the idea that homosexuality is ok, at school, when in fact, he suggested that homosexuality was “another form of abuse”. This man, shouldn’t be having kids, if he’s just trying to pass on messages of hate to his own children. I’d be far more pissed off, and have to remove my kids from school, if they were teaching that it’s wrong to be homosexual. If one of my kids thinks he may be gay, and the school is telling everyone that it’s wrong, i’d pull my kid straight out of that school. And what the fuck is with “it’s just another form of abuse”….. clearly when God created Christians, he may have overestimated his ability.

Another guy suggested that gay guys are much more promiscuous than hetrosexual males and so far more likely to spread disease. I’m a hetrosexual male, and i’m promiscuous. I love sex. Infact, sex to me, has nothing to do with “procreation“, it’s all about fun, enjoying myself, relaxing, and above all, happiness. If a God would rather me sit in my room, rocking backwards and forwards, crying over the fact that i’m a dirty sinner, whilst I condemn anyone with opinions of their own to hell, then that’s a God who quite frankly, can fuck off.
If I were to settle down and get married, have kids. I’d be lying to myself. I’d be hugely unhappy, and would be wasting both mine and my partners life, because it’s just not me. Not a Christian, not a Politician pandering to the bigots, and not a God is going to tell me otherwise. I’m me. Sex is such a taboo subject, people telling other people who they should love, how they should live, and who they should enjoy sex with. It should not be like this.

Why is it perfectly ok for the Christian Right to attack anything that isn’t directly pro-life….. homosexuality, abortion, but they seem to keep quiet when THEIR right winged Christian government destroy over 600,000 innocent lives in foreign countries, for reasons we still don’t know of? It seems great to be pro-life, as long as that life is white, christian, American, and doesn’t grow up to be gay. It takes hypocrisy to an entirely new level. I wish they would just admit that they use the Bible to justify themselves, and that it isn’t actually a religious matter, they just hate gay people, or go one step further, they hate anyone who happens to be slightly different. Because, God, as we all know, is a red neck from Texas, which is why they relate to him so well.

It’s beautifully ignorant of the far right Christian hate brigade, to cite Leviticus, with…
“A man shall not lie with another man, it is an abomination” ……as proof that God is up in heaven throwing darts at a poster of Elton John, and yet they cleverly ignore verses in Exodus, such as…

“On six days work may be done, but the seventh day shall be sacred to you as the sabbath of complete rest to the LORD. Anyone who does work on that day shall be put to death.”
My dad works on a Sunday sometimes. Infact, tomorrow is Sunday, i’ll be doing some University work, for monday. Is God sending me to hell? Should I be put to death tomorrow? The Christians who despise gay people due to a verse in leviticus, and therefore morally obliged to put anyone to do death who happens to work on a Sunday, otherwise, their argument is void of all intelligence (As if it isn’t already). And does this hell consist of free thinkers, as opposed to the easily manipulated hate filled lunatics God seems to use as his spokes people, because if that’s what Hell is, i’m quite looking forward to it. It’ll be refreshing to be honest.
Exodus 21:7
“When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go free as male slaves do.”
Fantastic. If i’m ever in need of some spare cash, God says it’s alright for me to sell my daughter into slavery. That’s fine then. So, if my dad works on a Sunday, but then sells my sister into slavery, has he cancelled the sin out, with his morally superior act of selling kids into slavery? Will be be saved?

The point is, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to have a problem with homosexuality, other than ones own personal hatred toward anyone who happens to be slightly different.
They claim it’s “unnatural”. Surely it’s far more unnatural to surppress who you are, in order to please a bunch of ignorant bigots? In fact, i’d go one further, and say that what is far more unnatural, is blind obediance to a man in the sky, something that can neither be proved true or false.
Gay couples who love each other, just as much as hetrosexual couples, who simply want to be recognised for their bond, should have the same level of rights as hetrosexual couples. Hetrosexual couples, are not superior.

When it comes to equality, clearly a large section of Americans are living in their own little World. Don’t bang on about how you voted Republican, to protect civil liberties and freedom, and then demand that other sections of society give up their rights to the same freedom you wish to preserve, you bigotted, out of date, idiotic, mindless, despicable excuses for human beings.

The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” – Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

GOD LOVES HATE!

Rant over.
