Nice blog – great to see someone so young that is actively questioning the world around him. I linked to your blog on mine. Thanks again.

    3. David says:

Thanks for stopping by Simply Ecclesia. I responded to your comment with “How Come.” Now that I have visited your site I see how come.

To borrow from the great philosopher Forrest Gump, “Christians are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.”

What I mean is that though there are Christians who will thump you with their Bible and condemn you, I try not to be this way. I try and respect everyone’s opinion though I may not agree with them. I wouldn’t say you have a flawed view. I would say it is your unique view. It’s good that you have taken the time to reflect on this life and not just follow the masses like a bunch of blind sheep.

Somewhere in all this I am sure there was a complement ;)

    4. PelshWixie says:

Talking of Agnostic (tenuous link), I overheard someone in the office talking about Humanism last week, and they thought it was ‘something to do with aliens’.

    5. MissAnthropy says:

Excellent blog. I love reading intelligent content from across the pond. Its a nice break from the crap over here. :-)

      Great photographs, btw.

    6. josiahe says:

you didn’t like my posting 12 items Obama failed to, yet failed to mention that you admit being
      “Staunch Liberal, leaning toward Socialism”

You didn’t answer my reply. Rather than just being part of the “Bush Derangement Syndrome”, I asked you to focus on what I was – not anyting else but trying to find a legitimate way out of this; placing blame is a game. Contributing constructively is what we need!

    7. nightman1 says:

You are approximately like me in your ideas, only approximately 1/3 my age. I find this a hopeful sign.

Now if we could only get more like you in the States!

    8. cllr says:

      Hey Jamie,
You call your self liberal with your thoughts, well liberals don’t support racism.

The subject was not about religions (its politics), so we’re talking about human beings of different nationalities; and one’s logic is reflected by his origins and liberal beliefs,
“Yeah because the Muslims, with their suicide bombers”
It would be difference of you have noticed both parties use of weapons. But
you chose to see suicide bombers, while you closed an eye on Israel’s (as a form) with American supported forbidden weapons, gas, bullets, plus bombs, machine guns, and tanks etc. used against majority of unarmed and helpless civilians.
How about if the British government decided to solve Israel delema and invite them to the British land and grants them freedom to kill and take by force your homes. how would the British nation feel.
Relief yourself with the answer to Liberalism.

    9. Both sides are as bad as each other. I have very little respect for the Israeli’s use of excessive force and what looks to be nothing short of genocide.

Similarly, I have no respect for a Gazan Leader who’s doctrine calls for Islam to “obliterate Israel”. Why is it considered ok for Palestinians to kill and slaughter the innocent people of Israel, yet when they do it to you, you claim ignorance and innocence.

You’re all people before you’re any religion.

“How about if the British government decided to solve Israel delema and invite them to the British land and grants”

We do. We aren’t a ignorant nation based on the idea that if you’re not the same religion as us, you’re not welcome. We’re multicultural. We have Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Hindus. And we live together in peace. You people seem to hate each other, purely because your religious beliefs don’t agree.

The reason i’m liberal, is I blame both of you. You Muslims aren’t innocent. Similarly, Israel is certainly not innocent.

But please, for my full views read my blog about this:

      Great blog!

Thanks for the comments too. It’s great to see others with similar opinions. Always healthy to debate any which are different though too, though a lot more fun, encouraging and satisfactory to find those with ‘good views’.

      Keep them coming!

      Little Titch,

Many thanks for your sprinkling of comments on my blog. Your blog looks great: serious issues and evereefin! Good to see what a propa blog is supposed to look like anyway. :)

    13. Shane says:

Like the blog. Our politics may not agree all of the time but debate is always good. I’ve add you to my blogroll.

Like the photography by the way. Keep it up!

Thanks for stopping by “I’m the Other Criminal.” You used one of my favorite words: lugubrious. But trust me, it’s not lugubrious :) Sex in a committed marriage makes that outside look like a shadow.

Here is an answer to your confusion: Jesus came to shake things up, and he hasn’t stopped. Any honest historian will agree that he’s the single most influential social movement leader in history. But beyond that, He said He was God and he came here so freaks like you and me can get what we don’t deserve: life. And I’m not talking about the garbage being sold on television. Real life. He offers it to you every morning, Futile.

And though the human mind may be the most powerful tool in the universe, it has a heck of a time when faced with a hurricane or an earthquake. Whose mind can tell an earthquake to stop or a gale to cease? All the best to you.

    15. Heya! Cheers for popping in to my blog! To be honest, as nice as your visit was I now wish you hadn’t! Your blog puts mine to shame! :P

But no worries, I will simply strive to write something as interesting and gripping as your blog!
I have to say I am impressed with your apparent understanding of politics, I like to think I know something – who doesn’t – but truth is I’m lost. It all goes straight over my head…but your blogs don’t! Cheers for that, now I can sound all clever and that! :P

    16. boudicabpi says:

No blog is better nor worse than the other. They are our opinions and the value is the same, even though we may differ in our views.
      Bob A.

    17. Still, mine is the best.

    18. boudicabpi says:

I won’t post a comment to debunk you. We all post our opinions.
Mine may not be the best, but they are what I believe. So be it.

Excellent blog. Do you mind me adding you to my blog roll?

    20. Doug says:

Far left liberal twits like you bore the hell out of me.

    21. In time, i’ll learn to cope with your disapproval.

    22. Ok, don’t be a hit and run. I pulled your comment out of the spam guard and posted it and answered it.

    23. You didn’t answer it. You just started up a completely different debate.

    24. Really now, condescending is it. Just what have you accomplished in your short life? Saved someone’s life? Earned your way through college, no not on someone else’s quid, did you pay for it on your own? Did you even go to or finish school?
Do you have your own flat and job paying the rent each month?
Done service for your country, fought in a war? served as a medic on the field of battle?

Or are you going to sit there and whine as your country is taken over by some Wiley Old Gentlemen that cares not about the laws of your land. Already they’re telling you how they will live in your country and soon, how YOU will live in your country.

If you think that bow was respect, where was the bow and curtsy for your Queen? Wake up! At that level of diplomacy, EVERYTHING is measured, including if your tie is crooked. Obama is culturally stunted. He diminishes himself.

    25. I didn’t tell you what you should do, I asked what you have done? Kind of touchy about that, no?

Who said Conservatives in America are rich? Not by any means, although we can become wealthy by work and not sitting around waiting for the government to give us the chance. Do that and I’d die poor.
Governments (all of them) are Robbing Hoods, who take from the rich and give some to the poor, but keep most of it for themselves.

I don’t think you should go back to the “good old ’80′s”, not at all, how about 1939 and maybe you can have peace in your time. That Neville Chamberlain was such a wonderful diplomat; he certainly pulled a fast one on Hitler.

Maybe the goosesteppers this time will get the guts to cross the channel; learning a new language is always so exciting.

Of course, you are aware of what is going on in Austria, Southern Germany and right there in the UK. They’re very much into Socialism in all its manifestations. They’re just not into your version of it, that’s all.

I have no idea where you get the numbers for uninsured except from the media. They’re as much to be trusted as the Beeb. Most of the so called uninsured are teens and young twenty-somethings who choose not to pay the premiums.

Anyone that goes to a hospital here gets treated. If you cannot pay for it, the cost is put on to someone else’s insurance. That included the illegals; we should be billing their country for that cost.

My girlfriend’s brother lives in London, works as a lawyer in Europe, but any time he needs medical work he goes to India or comes back here.
Canadians come across the border to escape the wonderful NHS they have up there.Quirky thing isn’t it?

No, the Republicans that lost in 08 were what we call RINO’s (Republicans In Name Only). A few more will lose in primary elections to fiscal conservatives who may or may not be Republicans.

How often do you listen to Limbaugh? Or is the patter about him just tossed off talking points from some screed. Hmmmm?

So what about Obama’s mauling the Queen? Is she some crone living in some oversize stone cottage? Where’s the respect?

I’m going to post all this on another site called the New England Republican. You are well written, use no scrofulous language which we don’t allow on our sites and avoid ad hominem attack. I like that. The others posters will also.
The persons commenting there are from London and the US and are of all political stripes.

    26. Taj says:

Thank you for the comment on my blog. I decided to read your blog as well. I came, I saw, I liked. I will be stopping by again.

    27. Here’s a link for your 40% of Americans are uninsured and from where it comes.
      http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2009/04/msm-complicit-in-full-court-pr-push-for.html

After reading that last screed on freedom, you also might wish to research the crime rate in the UK and OZ since the gun bans committed with guns, knives and assorted other implements.

Strange society you have that locks up victims for defending themselves, while letting the perps testify against them.

Remember this, When every second counts, the police are only minutes away!

Thanks for your comment on my “Teabagging John Adams” post. Glad to have found another funny liberal blog written by a questioning mind. And British! Now I can read your blog with an accent in my head, which makes it even better. Shameless plug? You might enjoy this older post of mine, written as I came into the light after my (mercifully brief!) conservative-ish phase. Thanks again for the read. :)

You left a post at my blog on the torture issue. I did approve your comment but for some reason it is not appearing, honestly. Your comment actually puzzles me. I mean that, not in a sarcastic way, but seriously. You dont’ need to know what the meaning of torture is? If you are held down in water its clear you are tortured? In one breath you are talking about prosecuting people based upon the rule of law, and then you are saying you don’t have to know whether they actually violated the law because “we all know what torture is.” Actually the law, and someone’s future or freedom, doesn’t thankfully rely on such vague things as what YOU think torture is. So while you are so concerned about protecting legal rights of people, why don’t you apply this concern across the board, and have some intellectual consistency.

I will try and get your comment to appear. It has done that with several comments, both positive and negative. I have had about 8 and approved them all and I think 2 are appearing. Thanks for the comment.

      sparkyholden

    32. Woah woah woah, I didn’t even mention prosecutions. I was speaking in a morality sense. Whether the law defines waterboarding as torture or not is irrelevant to me. I’m sure if you saw me doing that to a child, you’d think it was wrong, right?

I’m glad you took my “Will of the People” post from the point of view of health care even though that is not what the post was about. I really don’t like the Tea Party myself, but like every political ideology there are the extreme fringes that we just have to deal with.
As a self descirbed socialist you must have a favorable opinion of unions. You should read my earlier post about that and give me your thoughts. America doesn’t need another Reagan (besides I don’t even think if Reagan ran today he would get the nomination).
It’s one thing being poor and doing you best to make something of yourself but to be poor and not try to better your life and wait for handouts from the government that is a different matter. Most people would ignore you but I hope we can have a good conversation in the future. The world is so full of screaming jackasses on both sides that it is time for level-headed conversation especially one who is argumentative such as yourself.

    53. Good use of a comma! You’ll pick this English for 8 year old thing up in no time!

    54. It’s OK for futiledemocracy to make personal attacks but when I reply your girlfriend gets upset, how strange you people are.

Pointing out my incorrect use of punctuation is rather sad and pathetic, please keep it up it just shows what a petty individual you are…..

I have apologised to your girlfriend for getting personal but I shall not make that same apology to you futiledemocracy….

    55. I blame those damn muslims.

    56. You are to ignorant to be anything but a left winger. At 24 you know nothing. Like all you homosexual references when you try to get on my blog. Dude you have issues, you are just like a Muslim, born into stupidity in the U.K. you seriously need your butt kicked, you new best friend, J.C.

    57. I also spelled to rather than to so you would have something anally retentive to respond to. If you had balls the size of snow peas you would have comments available on your pathetic site so people could leave comments. Cheers, your new best friend.

    58. Wow, you called me ignorant and then said i’m “like a muslim”. Typical American.

=/ Comments are available on my “pathetic site”. You’d know this, because you left some, you moron.

    59. ellipsesgirl says:

Thanks for popping into my blog. Even though I am an American and not exactly sure where my political leanings lie, I’m sure that your blog will be an interesting read. I must not be typical American because I don’t think you’re an ignorant Muslim either…You may be young and a student (ahhh, those were the days) but you at least are willing to look at historical events from a different lens than what we usually see. As you know the saying, history is written by the winners…but it doesn’t always mean it’s the unvarnished truth…

    60. vermontwoodchuck says:

Well, still around. Glad to see that. Are you going to be watching Obama get his butt handed to him in the 2010 midterms? He seriously misjudged the American voter on the Hopey Changey bit.

The health care will get repealed, if not right away, they’ll cut the funding for it and stop the insurance swap-over.

      Come back again.

    61. Yes :) Purely because America will get what it deserves. Gun totin’, Christ obsessed, selfish, anti-healthcare yet pro-Reagan spending as much as possible funding Latin American terrorists, cretins.
The rest of the World wouldn’t give you Right Winged Americans a pair of scissors through fear that you’d kill an Arab somewhere, let alone give you such power, after the past eight years of fuck ups (which the right wing of America tends to like to pretend never happened)

Obama is weak. If I were him, i’d have told all of you who tend to like to masturbate furiously over Glenn Beck and refer to Obama as everything from a fascist to a communist muslim racist terrorist sympatheriser, to go fuck your pathetic little selves. He hasn’t. He’s given in to you far too much. For that, he will get what he deserves.

    66. That’s pretty clear LOL.

You’re still in your 20′s? I up my praise of your blog from “excellent” to Brilliant. I hope you tried for that award, and any others that came up. This is the best accidentally found blog I’ve seen in years.

I do like President O, tho. I’ll take bits&pieces of Chomsky and other far-left ideologies, but I’m getting too old for fist waving, rabble rousing and experimental communes. I’ll finish a fight if I have to, but starting them is a waste of time. Real life has beat the shit out of me enough times that there’s not much that impresses me more than free healthcare, and the right to eat and sleep in a safe place where I know I won’t get mauled or die of exposure. Yeah, I’m a boring centrist liberal. Free enterprise? Was there ever such a thing? Free speech? “Doomed to be…” Workers’ Utopia? I can only dream of that Star Trek/teacup world. Sad but true. Most people are only capable of working for the common good when they’ve had their greed&selfishness beaten out of them. Or when mass slaughter of their kin&countrymen by an outside invader is the consequence of not doing so. WWII was the last time such a large collaborative effort, for nothing beyond the love of our fellow human beings was possible in practice.

President O knows he can’t please everybody all the time. But he knows what every good liberal knows. It’s crucial to good governance to please as many of them as possible, and to convince the people who are capable of attempting to assassinate him that they’re *good people* too, and that they have things in common with the people who like him. Insincere? Who cares. The barest, most basic point of any presidency is to not die or start a civil war while one is in office :-) All joking aside, American gun culture, and its own unique history make for some very real and very ugly possibilities for the first black president. He’s a far braver person than I am to apply for the job at all. I think he’s doing a fine job.

    70. xena says:

Funny thing, tho. In this political climate, which has sadly creeped into a Canadian university system that all but worshipped Trudeau 40 years ago, I have to argue for my liberal views with such gusto that even philosophy profs with the background to know better mistake me for an anarchist. Me! A middle-aged single mom who went back to school as a mature student!

Keep up the activism. Just because I don’t believe a teacup world is possible right now, that doesn’t mean it should never be. I love The Guess Who’s vision as much as the next person :)

    71. Thank you for your kind words! :) I massively appreciate it.
      Your comments showed up!
The one you posted a while back, I can’t find :( It doesn’t seem to have saved.

That’s ok. Don’t worry about the comment. I was tired and probably not making as much sense as I wanted to anyway. I’ll rewrite it some other time :)
